Russell Millard brings more than 25 years experience as a leading commercial and press photographer to a range of creative projects, professional photo shoots and private weddings. 

As an experienced photojournalist and picture editor, Russell has worked on Adelaide’s leading daily and weekend newspapers and knows how to handle the demands of a busy news room while capturing the images that matter.

Russell merges classic and contemporary concepts in a distinctive visual style and honed his creative eye working in the lifestyle magazine market.  And with a background in the arts – including a bachelor’s degree in fine art photography – having work in the Australian National Gallery- he brings an artistic sensibility to his technical talent for visually expressing the individuality of his subjects and capturing the essence of your special memories.

Combined with his extensive management experience as a seasoned picture editor during which time he managed a team of photographers and coordinated countless photo shoots, Russell possesses a high-degree of organisational know-how and reliability to match his creative flair.

Beginning his photography career in community newspapers, Russell quickly learned the ropes and was soon snapped up by the Adelaide Advertiser – the city’s leading daily newspaper. Here he perfected his trade as a sort-after photojournalist and mastered the skills that continue to inform his work today, before progressing to Adelaide’s weekend newspaper, The Sunday Mail, and then The Advertiser as picture editor.

As part of this role, Russell would oversee a busy picture desk, editing thousands of digital images and added a raft of management and organisational skills to his technical and creative talent.

However, Russell once again craved life behind the lens and returned to duty as an active photographer in the lifestyle magazine market while working on his own art-based portraiture and street photography. 

Today, Russell works with a range of corporate and private clients and is available for professional photo shoots and private occasions.
